Used widely on the Eastern Front assaults against Russia until late 1943 the Stuka was a formidable and terrifying assault aircraft. The water-soluble white distemper used as snow camouflage weathered rapidly, washing off aircraft spines and becoming heavily stained by exhaust gasses.

Unit – III. III – In Jan. 1941, three Ju-87 units departed Sicily and flew to Tripoli in N. Africa to help the Italian forces defend Libya. These Stuka units operated successfully in the campaign through Jan. 1942 when an attack by Australian Kittyhawks led to a restructuring of the desert Stuka arm.
